What we keep, and why.
Outtie is built by Gooder Apps. This page says in plain language what the app collects, what it does with it, and how to get it deleted. Effective September 3, 2026.
Your trip content is visible to your trip’s crew and nobody else. We don’t sell data, and we don’t run ads or third-party tracking.
What we collect
- Your account. The email address you sign in with (by one-time code), the name you enter, and the avatar you choose or upload.
- What you put into trips. Trip names and destinations, ideas and votes, date polls, plans and RSVPs, reservations, messages, photos and videos, expenses and settlements, places you pin, and flight numbers you add. This is shared with the other people on that trip — that is the point of the app.
- Location, only when you turn it on. Sharing your location is off until you choose a sharing mode inside a trip. When it is on, your position is visible to that trip’s crew and nobody else, and it stops when you turn it off or the mode you picked expires. We do not keep a precise location history.
- Forwarded reservation emails. If you forward a booking confirmation to your trip’s reservations address, we read that email to pull out the reservation (venue, date, time, party size, confirmation code) and keep only the reservation. Email from addresses we don’t recognise as Outtie users is discarded.
- A push token. So the app can notify you when the crew votes, posts, or drops a plan. You control notification categories in your profile, and turning notifications off in iOS Settings removes the token.
What we do not do
- No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No contact-list uploads — invites are links you share yourself.
- No card numbers — payments are handled by Stripe and card details never touch our servers.
- We do not read your trips. People look at data only to fix a problem you have reported.
Services that handle data for us
Running the app means some data passes through providers we have chosen for the job:
- Supabase hosts the database, sign-in, and photo storage.
- Google Maps and Places answer place searches and draw the map. Your search text and map area go to Google; your account does not. Results are cached on our servers to limit repeated requests.
- OpenAI generates a trip’s cover art from the destination name and public-domain landmark photos. No personal data is sent.
- Anthropic reads reservation emails you choose to forward and returns the reservation fields; only the extracted reservation is kept.
- Twilio SendGrid receives the reservation emails you forward.
- Stripe processes optional card payments when you settle up through the app.
- Expo and Apple deliver push notifications and distribute the app through the App Store and TestFlight.
- Flight-status providers receive the flight numbers you add so the app can show schedules, gates, delays, and live position.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is scoped by per-row security rules so trip content is only readable by that trip’s members, and server-side keys never ship inside the app.
How long we keep it
Trip content lives as long as the trip does. You can delete your own messages, photos, expenses, flights, and reservations in the app at any time; deleting a trip removes everything in it. Finished trips stay in your history until you delete them.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Profile → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent and removes your content in shared trips. If you can’t get into the app, email support@outtieapp.com from the address you signed up with and we will complete it within 30 days.
Children
Outtie is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top moves and the app tells you.
